Germination Techniques

QBSS-Logo-75x71

Following are some helpful and/or interesting resources about seed germination, including some with advice on germinating old seeds (10, 12,15, or even some 70 year old seeds!).

  1. Norman C. Deno's Germination Theory and Practice: "Based on experiments on 145 families and 805 genera and about 4000 species."
These publications are now in the public domain, so you can download the PDF file for each.

    • Seed germination theory and practice (Second Edition – 1993)
    • First supplement to the second edition of Seed germination theory and practice (1996)
    • Second supplement to Seed germination theory and practice:(1998)
    • The Seed Site, located in the U.K. (http://theseedsite.co.uk), has a nice synopsis about the Second Edition–an easily read overview of the chapters in Deno's extensive work: http://theseedsite.co.uk/normdeno.html
